Reminders

Receive automatic notifications to never miss an appointment, build usage habits, and track pending orders. Works offline and without servers.

Reminders Overview

PraticOS sends automatic notifications to keep you in control of your business. There are 4 types of reminders that work locally on your device — no servers or internet connection needed at notification time.

100% Automatic

All reminders are automatically scheduled on your device. They work even with the app closed and without internet.

Appointment Reminder

Get notified before each scheduled SO, with configurable timing

Daily Reminder

Get a reminder every morning at 9 AM to start your day organized

Inactivity Reminder

Progressive reminders if you don't open the app for 3, 5, or 7 days

Pending Orders Reminder

Alert when you have quoted or approved orders stalled for over 7 days

Appointment Reminder

The appointment reminder notifies you before each SO with a scheduled date. When you save an SO, the app automatically calculates the notification time and registers it with the operating system.

Automatic Rescheduling

When opening the agenda, the app checks and reschedules all future reminders. This ensures reminders are restored after restarting the device or updating the app.

15 minutes before

Ideal for nearby services or when you're already on the way.

30 minutes before (default)

Enough time to prepare and travel to the location.

1 hour before

For those who need more preparation time.

2 hours before

Ideal for long commutes or complex preparations.

How It Works

  1. You create or edit an SO and set the Scheduled Date
  2. The app calculates the reminder time (scheduled date minus the advance time)
  3. The notification is registered locally on the device
  4. At the scheduled time, the operating system triggers the notification
  5. You receive the alert even with the app closed

Daily Reminder

The daily reminder sends a notification every morning at 9 AM to remind you to open the app and organize your workday.

Tip

The daily reminder is ideal for building the habit of logging your orders first thing in the morning, keeping your business always organized.

How It Works

  1. The app automatically schedules a notification for 9 AM the next day
  2. You receive the reminder even with the app closed
  3. When you open the app, the reminder is rescheduled for the following day
  4. The cycle repeats automatically while the reminder is enabled

Inactivity Reminder

Inactivity reminders send progressive notifications when you don't open the app for a few days. They work as a gentle nudge to bring you back to PraticOS.

No Worries

If you open the app before the deadline, inactivity reminders are cancelled and rescheduled automatically. They only fire if you truly don't use the app.

3 days without use

"We miss you!" — A gentle reminder to get back to logging your orders.

5 days without use

"Your orders are waiting!" — An alert to not lose track of your work orders.

7 days without use

"Don't let PraticOS sit idle!" — A final reminder to come back and organize your orders.

Pending Orders Reminder

The pending orders reminder alerts you when you have service orders in quote or approved status that have been stalled for over 7 days. It's a way to never forget to follow up on work.

Important

This reminder helps prevent quotes from being forgotten and customers from going without a response. Keep your SOs up to date for more professional service.

How It Works

  1. The app checks how many SOs are in quote or approved status for over 7 days
  2. If there are pending SOs, it schedules a notification for tomorrow at 10 AM
  3. The notification shows the number of SOs that need attention
  4. Once you open the app and update the SOs, the reminder won't be needed anymore

How to Configure

Each reminder type can be enabled or disabled individually in the app settings. All are enabled by default.

Notification Permission

On iOS, the app requests permission to send notifications on first use. Make sure to allow it to receive reminders. On Android, notifications are enabled by default.

Step by Step

  1. Open the app and go to Settings
  2. In the Reminders section, you'll see toggles for each type
  3. Enable or disable each reminder according to your preference
  4. For the Appointment Reminder, you can also choose the advance time (15min, 30min, 1h, or 2h)
  5. Settings are saved automatically

Frequently Asked Questions

Do reminders drain the battery?

Not significantly. Notifications are scheduled once with the operating system, which manages triggering efficiently. The app doesn't need to run in the background.

Do they work with the app closed?

Yes. All reminders are local notifications registered with the operating system. They work even with the app completely closed.

Do they work without internet?

Yes. Reminders are scheduled locally on the device. The only one that needs internet is the Pending Orders Reminder, which queries Firestore to check stalled orders — but the notification itself works offline.

Can I disable just one type of reminder?

Yes. Each reminder type has an independent toggle in settings. You can disable only the ones you don't want to receive.

Do inactivity reminders fire if I use the app every day?

No. Every time you open the app, inactivity reminders are cancelled and rescheduled. They only fire if you truly don't open the app for 3, 5, or 7 days.

Are reminders rescheduled after restarting the phone?

Yes. When opening the app and accessing the agenda, all future reminders are automatically rescheduled.

Does it work on iOS and Android?

Yes. Reminders work on both platforms with native notifications. On iOS, you need to allow notifications when prompted.
