Which alerts the app sends
PraticOS sends four alerts on your phone. They are set on the phone itself: they arrive with the app closed and fire even without internet at that moment.
- Before the scheduled time
- Before each booked visit, with the order number and the customer's name.
- Daily summary at 9am
- Every day at 9am, to remind you to log the day's orders.
- If I go days without opening the app
- After 3, 5 and 7 days without opening PraticOS.
- Stalled orders
- At 10am, when there are orders in Quote or Approved open for more than 7 days.
Before the scheduled time
Alerts you a little before the day and time set on the order. For example, 1 hour before a visit across town. The alert shows the order number and the customer. How to set the time is in Schedule.
How long before
- Disabled
- No visit alerts on this phone.
- 15 min before
- For when you're already near the customer or work at the shop.
- 30 min before
- The default.
- 1 hour before
- For short trips.
- 2 hours before
- For far-away visits or ones where you need to gather parts.
Daily summary at 9am
Every day at 9am the phone shows "Good morning! Log today's work orders on PraticOS". It's for people who jot the job on paper and enter it later: the alert reminds you to log it while the day is still fresh.
If I go days without opening the app
If you go a few days without opening the app, it alerts you three times, counting from the last time it was opened.
When it fires
- 3 days
- First alert.
- 5 days
- Second alert.
- 7 days
- Last alert.
Stalled orders
Tells you how many orders are in Quote or Approved and were opened more than 7 days ago: the quote the customer never answered, the approved job nobody started.
- When you open the app, it counts orders in Quote or Approved opened more than 7 days ago.
- If there are any, it sets an alert for 10am the next day with the count.
- Each time you open the app, the count is redone and the alert moves to the next day.
Turn alerts on and off
All alerts come turned on. Each one has its own switch.
- Tap the profile button at the top of Home and go to Reminders.
- Tap Before the scheduled time to choose how long before, or Disabled to turn it off.
- Turn Daily summary at 9am, If I go days without opening the app and Stalled orders on or off.
- Changes apply right away; there's no save button.
FAQ
Do reminders drain the battery?
Barely. The alert is set in the phone's system, which fires it at the right time; the app doesn't need to stay open.
Do they work with the app closed?
Yes. They are the phone's own notifications and fire with the app closed.
Do they work without internet?
Alerts already set fire without internet. To count stalled orders, the app needs a connection when it's opened.
Can I turn off just one?
Yes. Each alert has its own switch under Reminders, in Settings.
I restarted my phone. Did I lose the alerts?
Open the app: it sets the alerts again. Visit alerts come back when you open the Schedule tab.
Do they work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, on both, using the system's own notifications.
